Paul Harris replied to the topic 'Problem logging into CB 18.2.6755 after fresh install' in the forum. 4 days ago

I had the same problem;
1) On the server where the database is installed, run DBMC as "administrator", and use SQL Administrator connection details
2), click on the demo databases so that the server name and the demo database and sub-items are ticked
3) click on the name of the demo database ( on my install it was "ISSIDEMOUS(18)")
4) this should then display the version number and say that it needs an upgrade.
5) select the upgrade option from the ribbon menu

Hi,

Sorry to name it incorrectly but the new menu for CB19 looks really nifty. Wanted to know if there will be the ability to add hyperlinks as buttons to menus given its a hybrid of sorts? Would like to add easy links to certain vendor and government websites we access... Looking forward to whats next. Will have to look at doing a complete re-implementation in 19.2 maybe with the help of one of the partners.

Cheers

Thanks Gary for the direction.
I started to look at that solar but also have been looking into elastic search. www.elastic.co/solutions/site-search
A subscription service but not super expensive.

Any plan to improve the search in future releases? :)

I have installed CB on two different machines and on each PC I get an error when logging into PC. I have never seen this error.

When I try to login to DemoUS co, A popup message is displayed "An update of this version is now available. the system will perform the update and will restart." when you press OK (this is the only choice) it tries to run update tools but throws an error:
=====================
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I have checked the DMC and checked DB versions etc and everything is in order. Any ideas!

Take a look at the following video which covers this subject - mycb.university/videos2/626-gary-harriso...customizer-ecommerce

SOLR is the most cost effective way to go. Craft Wholesale uses nextopia which is very good, but can be very pricey. You can see it in action on their website - www.shopcwi.com

Net Strategies implmented that for them - www.netsam.com/

Hi, once the POS web services have been installed you can access the only help by adding the following onto the POS connection string...

/Contacts/help
/Products/help
/Transactions/help
/System/help

There is some rater outdated online documentation, which was a "html dump" of the online help back in version 16 at -

We are finding that the standard search function on e commerce is not returning the best search results making it harder for customers to find exactly what they are looking for. Is there any way to improve the current search by on the ecorrce by defining what fields it search, or how it works.
Has anyone else used any external tools to improve CBE search?

Hi Brendan,

You may follow indicated steps

Installing and Setting POS Desktop App and POS Web Service for Connected Sale

Connected Sale
community.connectedbusiness.com/communit...egory/connected-sale

1. Install the POS Web Service components using the Connected Business installer. Once the POS component is successfully installed, you can access the POS folder usually located in the location path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Connected Business 18.2\POS
2. Open your IIS Manager to open the Internet Information Services configuration window.
3. Since CB 18 is already a 64-bit installer, when setting up your web services or website, please make sure that the application pool you're using is set to Enable 32-Bit Applications: FALSE", .Net Framework Version = v4.0, Identity = Network Service and Managed Pipeline Mode = Integrated
4. In the Connections pane, right-click the Sites node in the tree, and then click Add Web Site .
5. In the Add Web Site dialog box, type a name for the POS WebService in the Web site name box. Select application pool created in step 3
6. In the Physical path box, type the physical path of the POS WebService's folder, or click the browse button (...) to navigate the file system to find the folder(usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Connected Business CE 18.2\POS\WebService ).
7. Back to your IIS Manager, right click your setup POS Service. Then, select Edit Permissions
8. Click the Security tab, Click Edit , and then click Add .
9. Under Enter object names to select, type network service and iusr , and then click OK.
10. In the Group or user names box, click NETWORK SERVICE and IUSR . You can click 'Advanced ' at the lower left corner of the window. Then, Find Now. Click NETWORK SERVICE and IUSR.

Configure The POS Service Connection
1. Open your Application Configuration Tool that could be found on your desktop and Installation Folder (Interprise.Presentation.Utility.AppConfig)
2. Open the web configuration file . To do this, click the Open menu from the File section and select Configuration File option. A dialog window will be displayed. Find the web.config file which is usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Connected Business CE 18.2 Server\POS\WebService
3. Select the Company Setup to configure, and set the Connection Protocol option to LAN. You can leave the User Code and Password as it is if you are using the default database, otherwise you can change it according to your settings.
4. If you are using a different database other than the default, you need to change the database connection. Click the ellipsis button to change the Database Connection. In the Database Connection window, select the Server Name, Database Name and Login Authentication. Click Test Connection button to check if the connection is working and click OK to close the window.

Running Connected Sale POS Service
1. Back to your IIS Manager , right click your setup POS Service. Select Manage Website > Browse. Enter POS credentials : Username: posadmin Password: posadmin.
2. Once loaded, copy the POS Service URL

Connected Sale
1. In your C:\Program Files (x86)\Connected Business 18.2\POS, you may just click Interprise.Presentation.POS.exe
2. Click on Connection. Add or paste the POS Service URL you copied from step 2.
3. Enter your default admin admin credentials.
