Format Data Fields

You can format the data fields in your report depending on your required business needs. To format data fields, you can access the formatting editor by clicking the Design button from the options. Click the Fields tab, select the available fields tab and click Apply Formatting. The Formatting Editor window will display.

 

 

 

 

 

FORMAT NUMERIC DATA

You can format the selected fields with number as its output value.

  1. On the Formatting Editor window, click on Number tab. The Standard and Custom tabs will display.

  2. On the Standard tab, set the decimal digits for the number by selecting it through the Quantity Decimal Digits field. You can add up input 6 decimal digits for the numeric value.
  3. You may also add a percentage sign by ticking the Show Percentage Sign checkbox.
  4. Optional: The Custom tab allows you to set any format of your choice. Any value when entered into the field will overwrite the values set in the Standard tab.
  5. Click OK to save the changes made on the selected field.

FORMAT CURRENCY DATA

You can format the selected values with output as currencies.

  1. On the Formatting Editor window, click on Currency tab. The Formatting section will display.

  2. Click OK to save the changes made on the selected field.

FORMAT DATE AND TIME DATA

You can format the selected values with output as date and time.

  1. On the Formatting Editor window, click on DateTime tab. The Formatting section will display with the Standard and Custom tabs.
  2. On the Standard tab, you may select the following formats to your date and time data values.

    Format Specifier Description Result
    d Shows the short date pattern. 4/30/2013
    D Shows the long date pattern. Tuesday, April 30, 2013
    t Shows the short time pattern. 11:29 AM
    T Shows the long time pattern. 11:29:55 AM
    f Shows the full date and short time pattern. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 11:30 AM
    F Shows the full date and long time pattern. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 11:30:27 AM
    g Shows the General Date and short time pattern. 4/30/2013 11:30 AM
    M or m Shows the month and day pattern. April 30
    R or r Shows the RFC 1123 pattern. Tue, 30 Apr 2013 11:30:58 GMT
    s Shows the Sortable date/time pattern which conforms to the ISO 8601. 2013-04-30T11:31:22
    u Shows the universal sortable date and time pattern. 2013-04-30 11:32:17Z
    U Shows the universal sortable date and time pattern. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 3:33:31 AM
    Y or y Shows a year month pattern. April, 2013
  3. Optional: The Custom tab allows you to set any format of your choice. Any value when entered into the field will overwrite the values set in the Standard tab.
  4. Click OK to save the changes made on the selected field.

ADD PREFIX AND SUFFIX TO THE BASE VALUE

Format selected field that has text as its output value. Users can set prefix and suffix to attach to the value at runtime.

  1. On the Formatting Editor window, click on General tab. The Formatting section will display.
  2. On the Prefix and Suffix fields, you may enter values to attach to the base value.
  3. Click OK to save the changes.

ADD FORMATTING RULES TO A REPORT

Format selected field value when the condition created was met.

  1. On the Formatting Editor window, click on Conditional tab. The Formatting section will display.
  2. Click on the + button to add a formatting rule. The formatting rule will be added on the available formatting rules.
  3. You may rename the name of the Formatting Rule by selecting it under the Name column.

  4. Format the string by clicking on the ellipsis button under the FormatString column. The formatting editor will display. Refer to the above processes for each type of strings. Click OK to apply the changes.
  5. Add a Filter Criteria by clicking on the ellipsis button under the Condition Column. The Filter Criteria will display. Click on the + button to add a criteria for the data value. Click OK to apply the changes.
  6. Sort the formatting rules applied to the control by clicking the or to move it down or up the sequence.
  7. Click to include the formatting rule. Click OK to save the changes.

    You may delete the formatting rule by clicking on the Delete button.

MODIFY EXISTING DATA FORMAT

If you already have an existing data format, you may change the format as needed.

  1. Select the report you want to modify the data format.
  2. On the Designer mode of the report, click on button to show the Table Cell Tasks window.

  3. On the Format String field, click on the ellipsis button. The Format String Editor will display. Refer to the above processes to change the data values respectively.

    You can go through the Design form to modify the format of controls.

  4. Click OK to save the changes.
